Terms
How we quote, pour and stand behind the work. Guide prices on recast.konduct.au are not the contract. The written quote after measure is. Last updated 18 September 2026.
Who we are
Recast is a division of KONDUCT, operating from 2A Hayward Street, Bayswater WA 6053. Enquiries: info@konduct.au. This site is recast.konduct.au, reached from konduct.au.
These terms apply to every enquiry, measure, guide price, written quote and pour we do in Western Australia. They sit alongside the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing here limits a right you cannot give away.
Guide prices are not quotes
Every rate, calculator total, overlay comparison and “from” figure on this site is a guide only. It is not an offer, not a fixed price, and not a contract.
A contract exists only when we send a written quote after a site measure and you accept it in writing (including email). Until then, either of us can walk away at no cost.
Guide rates include GST and assume a structurally sound laminate top in metro Perth, ordinary cut-outs, and the finish you selected. The written quote is the price. If the two differ, the written quote wins.
The measure
The first site visit in metro Perth is part of quoting, not a separate invoice. We inspect the substrate, map runs and cut-outs, and put samples on the actual bench.
If the particleboard is swollen, sagging, rotten or otherwise unfit, we will say no. Epoxy is a surface, not a structural repair. We do not charge for an honest no after that first visit.
Access, parking, power and a clear working area are your responsibility on measure day and pour day. Tell us about stairs, dogs, strata rules and occupied houses before we arrive.
The written quote
A written quote is valid for 30 days unless it says otherwise. Accepting it books a pour window, not a guaranteed calendar hour — weather and humidity can move the day.
What is in the quote is what we will do. Extra cut-outs, tap-hole fills, built-up square edges, cabinet spray beyond the doors counted, hardware counts, and anything uncovered once we unmask are variations. We price variations before we do them, except emergency make-good on the day where waiting would spoil the pour.
Overlay, rip-out and stone figures we publish are typical market ranges for comparison. They are not quotes from those trades and not a promise of your saving.
Deposit, balance, cancellation
To hold a pour date we take a 50% deposit of the accepted quote. The balance is due on completion of the pour day — before we leave, unless the quote says otherwise.
If we cancel or postpone for weather, chemistry or our capacity, your deposit is held against the new date or refunded in full if you do not want the new date.
If you cancel more than five working days before the pour date, we refund the deposit. Inside five working days we may retain the deposit for reserved labour and materials already allocated. If we have not yet allocated materials, we will refund what we reasonably can.
The pour, cure and your house
You may stay in the house. The kitchen (or vanity, laundry, bar) is a no-go zone on pour day and until we say light use is allowed — typically the next morning. Full hardness, heat and chemical resistance take several days. The care note we leave is part of the job.
Keep children, pets and other trades off the wet coat. Open windows as we ask. Do not cover, wipe or load the surface during cure. Damage from use before we clear it is not a defect in our work.
We do not disconnect licensed plumbing or electrical. Existing sinks, hobs and splashbacks stay. If an existing fitting is already failing, that is not a Recast defect.
Finish, colour and artisan work
Samples on your bench are the reference, not a phone photo and not a slab in a yard. Vein, terrazzo and mica finishes are poured, not printed. Movement, chip scatter and vein placement will not match a picture exactly. That is the work, not a fault.
We will not sell a pigment “wood grain”. Pale oak is real timber or veneer under a clear flood, and timber moves. Hairline at joins in the old laminate may still read after a flood; we will show you on the actual bench at measure.
Defects, care and Australian Consumer Law
Tell us in writing within seven days of handover if the pour has a workmanship defect (fish-eyes we should have recut, an unmasked drip on a cabinet we left, a starved edge). We will make that good.
Heat rings from pans off a high flame, knife marks, stains from bleach or acetone left sitting, chips from impact, and wear after years of use are not defects. Recoats later are a paid service unless the ACL requires otherwise.
Goods and services we supply come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If a failure is a major failure, you have the remedies that law gives you. For a minor failure we may repair or recast the affected area.
We do not warrant the particleboard under your laminate. If hidden swell appears after a competent inspection, we will stop and talk — we will not pretend epoxy can hold a rotten run together.
Photographs
Unless you tell us otherwise in writing before the pour, we may photograph the work for Recast and KONDUCT — before, during and after — without identifying your street address or your face. Say no and we will not publish.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of Western Australia. If a court finds one part unenforceable, the rest still applies.
